Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 convertible loses its head

After finding a home for some 1,300 Aventador coupes, Lamborghini has revealed the latest addition to the family, a convertible or roadster version of its fastest car.

Unlike lesser convertibles, which have either a fabric or folding solid roof, the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 convertible features a two-part lightweight (6kg) carbon fibre roof panel. These have to removed and fitted by hand.

Behind the driver and passenger sits a 6.5-litre V12 pushing out 522kW (700hp) of power. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the 7-speed ISR gearbox and a race-style pushrod suspension. According to Lamborghini the open top Aventador can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 3 seconds flat and hit a top speed of 350km/h.
