Jaguar C-X17 SUV concept: would Austin Powers approve?

First Jaguar teased us with the silhouette of an upcoming concept car that looked suspiciously like a first ever Jaguar SUV. Now someone on the internet has broken ranks and posted an image purporting to be the front of the C-X17 SUV concept.

Clearly Jaguar isn’t saying anything about the C-X17 or any future SUV at the moment, preferring to save its ammunition for the official reveal.

Expect a rear-wheel drive based platform that’s also available in (naturally) all- or four-wheel drive, a range of supercharged V6 and V8 petrol engines, and a selection of diesel motors. If rumours are right the C-X17 and the future SUV that’ll look a lot like it, as well as all future Jaguars, will feature a body primarily made out of weight-saving aluminium.

Given the company’s history of producing slinky, even phallic, coupes and convertibles, as well as low-slung sedans, a SUV will be a polarising proposition. So, naturally, we asked ourselves: would Austin Powers approve?

Clearly, unlike the E-Type, a Jaguar SUV won’t woo the females to quite the same degree. On the upside there will be plenty of space in the back and boot, which means plenty of room to, umm, make it a Shaguar.
