Hyundai Veloster SR Turbo priced at $32k

The turbocharged Veloster is about to head into Hyundai showrooms priced from $31,990 for the 6-speed manual and $33,990 for the 6-speed automatic — the turbo Velsoters feature a regular auto transmission, as opposed to the dual-clutch transmission seen the naturally aspirated models.

With a turbo fitted to the 1.6-litre direct injection engine, the Veloster SR has 150 kW (6000 rpm) and 265Nm (1750-4500 rpm). Up significantly from 103kW and 166Nm on the regular models.

Just one specification Veloster turbo is available featuring a quicker steering rack and modified suspension setup. It’s easy to spot the SR as it has larger, more aggressive, open mouth grille, flanked by fog lights. There’s also 18-inch alloy wheels, twin circular exhausts, and a diffuser and spoiler at the rear.

Step inside and you’ll see sports bucket seats covered a mix of leather and leatherette. Tech goodies include a 7-inch touchscreen with sat nav, live traffic updates, lane guidance, junction view, speed limit data and warnings, camera alerts and three years of map updates.

As part of the updated range, the Veloster+ has a slight price rise to account for the newly added sat nav system.
