Honda Mobilio 7-seat small MPV woos buyers in Indonesia, and India too

Just a day after Datsun unveiled its low cost 7-seat Go+, Honda took the covers off its Mobilio MPV, which will go on sale in 2014 in Indonesia and eventually across Asia.

Based on the Brio and Amaze entry-level hatch and sedan, the Mobilio MPV will be available with three row of seats and at its maximum can hold seven people. In Indonesia it will be powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine and drive the front wheels.

Honda isn’t giving too many specifics away about the Mobilio, but does mention that it will have a ground clearance of 185mm to cope with Indonesia’ notoriously rough roads and that it will be under 4.4 metres in length.

The Honda Mobilio MPV will begin production at Honda’s new second plant in Indonesia; it’s expected to be produced in India too, with sales across the rest of Asia on the cards as well.

A prototype of the Mobilio MPV can be seen at the Indonesia International Motor Show, which runs until 29 September.
