Ford Figo Concept: a Ka with a short boot for India

At the New Delhi Auto Show, Ford took the wraps off its Figo concept. Essentially it’s a booted version of upcoming Ka hatch that’s aimed at the developing world.

More specifically it’s a sedan developed with India in mind. There cars under four metres in length are taxed more leniently than larger cars. To that end, Ford has fitted the Ka Concept with a shortish boot that ensures the Figo sneaks in under the taxation mark.

For South America, Ford Brazil recently unveiled the Ka 4-door Sedan Concept, which features a more regularly sized trunk. From the rear doors forward, though, it’s exactly the same the Ka hatch and Figo sedan.

According to MotorBeam, the production version of the Figo will be powered by a 68kW 1.5-litre diesel motor. It’s likely the Figo will also receive a version of the 3-cylinder 1-litre turbocharged (sorry, EcoBoost) engine seen in the Fiesta and EcoSport.
