Facelifted Mazda MX-5 now only available with folding solid roof

The second facelift for the third generation (or NC) Mazda MX-5 has gone on sale in Australia. Starting at A$47,280 the MX-5 is now only available as a coupe convertible, with the soft-top no longer available locally.

The car’s brakes have been retuned to make them easier to modulate, but the engine remains largely unchanged. With 4 cylinders and a total volume of 2 litres, the petrol engine churns out 118kW of power and 188Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual is standard, while a 6-speed auto with paddle shifters is a A$2,215 option.

Standard features on the Roadster Coupe include 17-inch alloy wheels, a electrically operated folding hard top, a limited-slip differential (on manual models only), rake and reach adjustable steering wheel, traction and stability control, and leather seats, steering wheel and gear knob. Also standard is a 7-speaker Bose sound system with 6-disc CD stacker, 200W amp, auxiliary and USB ports, and steering wheel controls.

Step up to the A$49,885 Roadster Coupe Sports and you’ll gain 17-inch BBS alloy wheels, and Recaro sports bucket seats clad in leather and alcantara.
