F32 BMW 4-Series coupe is a 3-Series with two fewer doors

BMW has unveiled the 4-Series coupe and it looks exactly as we expected: a 2-door 3-Series and almost identical to the 4-Series Coupe Concept.

The 4-Series coupe will initially be available with the choice of three engines: 180kW/350Nm 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged 428i petrol, 225kW/400Nm 3-litre 6-cylinder turbocharged 435i petrol, and the 135kW/380Nm 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel 420d. The 435i and 428i will available with BMW’s all-wheel drive system, branded xDrive.

In Europe buyers will have a choice between a standard 6-speed manual transmission or 8-speed auto.

As to be expected there’s plenty of standard and optional kit. Standard on all 4-Series models (at least in Europe) are automatic engine start/stop, brake energy regeneration, and automatic engine shutoff during coasting.

Cashed up buyers might be tempted by the 4-Series’ full LED headlights with automatic high beam, automated parking, surround view camera system, attentiveness monitoring, internet connectivity to mapping, real-time traffic info and social media services via the iDrive entertainment system, active cruise control, road sign recognition, high-res head-up display, touchpad for the iDrive system, M Sport suspension and braking package.
