Later this year the Chevrolet Corvette, Impala, Malibu and Volt will be offered with 4G LTE as part of the company’s OnStar services package. From 2015 LTE will offered in the Equinox, Silverado, Silverado HD, Spark and Spark EV, as well as the Canada-only Trax.

The optional 4G LTE connectivity can be used by wireless devices, such as smartphones, tablets and laptop; OnStar’s range of navigation, concierge and emergency services; and the MyLink entertainment system’s apps.

In the US, 4G LTE will be provided by AT&T. No Canadian provider has yet been named, but Bell Mobility, the telco currently contracted by OnStar seems to be a likely candidate.

No word yet on whether GM will make 4G LTE available via China’s OnStar or Latin America’s Chevystar systems, or on other vehicles living outside the OnStar/Chevystar coverage areas.
