Audi RS7 Sportback powers up with twin-turbo 412kW/700Nm V8

The Audi RS7 is ready to conquer highways and autobahns with its 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and comprehensive selection of electronic kit.

Behind the aggressively restyled front end is a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with 412kW (560hp) of power and 700Nm (516lb-ft) of torque. All of this mechanical fire and brimstone is sent to all four-wheels; no word yet on which transmission the RS7 will run with. Top speed, after the speed limiter is deactivated, is 305km/h (189mph). The RS7 will sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds.

Driven more sedately the RS7’s V8 will shut down four of its eight cylinders. This combined with automatic engine start/stop helps the fastest A7 achieve a fuel consumption rating of 9.8L/100km (24mpg) in official EU testing.

The five-door hatchback — sorry “coupe” — rides on 20-inch alloy wheels, although there are three different 21-inch alloy wheel designs for buyers to choose from. Adaptive air suspension can lower the car 20mm closer to the ground; a firmer sports suspension system is offered as an option. Other options include matte grey paint, full LED headlights, head up display, wireless hot spot, automated parking, lane keeping assistance, night vision, speed limit detection and display, active cruise control, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, and exterior carbon fibre trim. Standard fittings extend to leather/alcantara RS sports bucket seats with large side bolsters, xenon headlights, three-zone climate control air-con, cruise control, navigation, and MMI controller.
