Aston Martin Vanquish Volante: topless beauty shots aplenty

Was there any chance that Aston Martin wouldn’t take the top off its delectable Vanquish coupe? Of course not. Does it mean we love the new Vanquish Volante any less? Are you kidding?

As with the new generation Vanquish coupe, the Volante’s body is constructed primarily from carbon fibre atop an aluminium core architecture, dubbed VH. According to Aston Martin the new car’s multi-layer electric canvas roof can fold away or up in 14 seconds.

Powering the new Vanquish Volante is the same AM11 6-litre V12 from the coupe; it kicks out 412kW (573PS) of power and 620Nm (457lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Despite the fact that will undoubtedly weigh more than the coupe, the new Volante is estimated to dispatch the 0 to 100km/h sprint as quickly as the coupe — in the 4.1 seconds — and hit the same top speed — 295km/h (183mph).

The new Vanquish Volante goes on sale late in 2013 in Europe with prices pegged at £199,995 in the UK and €264,995 in Germany. Expect the Volante to land in the US some time in 2014 for US$297,995. No word yet on Australia pricing or on sale date.
