2012 TF Kia Optima Platinum review: exceptional looks, odd drive

If beauty and price were the sole factors in judging cars, the Kia Optima would sail into a podium position. We just wish it was more of a driver’s car.

As a car reviewer, enthusiast and keen (if not particularly talented) driver, the Optima is a car that tears at the very fabric of our soul. On the one hand it’s well equipped and looks fantastic, and on the other we wish it was a true driver’s car. Indeed if it was a plush boulevard cruiser we’d be a little less conflicted.

Thanks to having ex-Audi designer Peter Schreyer in charge of the studios Kia has hit a rich vein of form.
